‘Nightmare’ plant Japanese knotweed has invaded the Derby Hippodrome
“Nightmare” plant Japanese knotweed is growing at the crumbling former Hippodrome theatre in Derby.
And the hard-to-kill alien, which can crack concrete, is threatening to damage nearby buildings, says a local landlord.
The landlord also claims that homeless people are gaining access to the site through a small hole at ground level. Reports from residents have also stated that teenagers have been seen climbing in the ruins of the derelict building, raising safety concerns.
