But how do we do it? How do you “kill” Japanese Knotweed? Although ECS have several methods to eradicate Japanese Knotweed, two typically stand out most.
The most cost-effective method of eradicating Japanese Knotweed is through our 3-year herbicidal treatment programme consisting of 2/3 visits per year. Both foliar application and stem injection maybe used to carry out the works. Upon completion, ECS will issue a 10-year company guarantee.
Now not every client has 3-years to wait, some in fact needed it gone yesterday as we hear more often than not. If a client plans to develop within 7m of a Japanese Knotweed infestation, ECS would always recommend excavations. Our dig and dump method is our most used service on a development site. Once removed the Japanese Knotweed is transported straight to landfill, leaving the developer with clean uncontaminated soil to carry on works as normal. Other methods such as on-site cell burial, translocations and spoil to soils can also be carried out (site dependant.).
